THE

WILD

DUCK

About

Director Yana Ross invited me to create set and costume design for the modern adaptation of the classical play "Wild Duck" by Henrik Ibsen. The performance premiered in Den Nasjonale Scene in Bergen,  Norway, -  the venue where Ibsen himself staged the play for the very first time in 1885. One of the spaces menioned in the play is the mysterious attic - a hunter's workshop - where the tragic events unfold. We decided to follow the narrative and transformed the backstage into an immersive spatial experience: to reach  their seats at the start of the show, audience must cross that mysticaql room filled with taxidermied animal figures. This is the only time that this performative space is being experienced in a tangible way. A few cameras installed in the corners of a room the were broadcasting live directly to the stage, becoming an integral visual element as well as a performative and dramaturgical concept.
